    Abstract

    Electrical power efficiency can be improved by improving power quality. Good power quality can be done by improving: the voltage drop, power factor, power loss and reduce harmonics. Use rectifier 3 phasa causing great harmonics. The high levels of harmonics currents can ccause various problems in the system, such as, the decrease of system’s power factor, the increase of neutral current system, the power loss increases and the system resonance occurs. In this final project is done the installation of capacitor banks at 11.5 uF star connection and harmonic filter at the 5th harmonics 0f 35.27 mH and the 7th harmonics of 17.99 mH to improve power factor and reduce harmonics. From the results of the tests have been done harmonic filters can reduce the current THD and power factor decreases. Current THD has decreases from 29.11% to 26.51% and power factor decreased from 0.96 to 0.91. Keywords: power quality, power factor, harmonic, rectifier 3 phasa
