    Abstract

    When this information must be channeled quickly and conveniently so that the purpose of the information contained can be accomplished. For information about the vital condition of a unit must be swift and practical. This was in order if there are problems can be resolved. Or only used for monitoring the condition of a unit. SMS or short message service can be used to transmit information in a quick time and in significant amounts. To send SMS only requires a GSM modem unit and controller, so that delivery can be arranged based on conditions desired. The controller used in this final project is AVR AT MEGA 128 and AVR AT MEGA 162. A microcontroller (AVR AT MEGA 162) make the process of selecting an alarm which is important for sending SMS or not. While the second microcontroller (AVR AT MEGA 128) conducted by sending SMS to GSM modem AT commands based on input from the microcontroller 2. Besides microcontrollers two do the reading incoming SMS to the GSM modem and take action in accordance with the contents of the SMS read. All communications are used in this system using a serial. The system has been tested to send an SMS to 20 phone numbers and used to monitor the status. The test results show the system works well. To send 10 SMS alarm required time 3 minute and to send 20 SMS alarm required time 5 minute. Keywords: SMS, AVR AT MEGA 128, AVR AT MEGA 162, serial communication
