    Abstract

UPS is the equipment used to provide temporary resources as the main source of outages. The loss of the UPS is able to reduce the power factor and generate harmonics. To overcome these problems added to the UPS power factor correction. In this UPS, power factor correction is placed in the charger using a flyback converter. Flyback converter must work in conditions discontinuous, because the condition is discontinuous value of magnetizing inductance (Lm) is small, so that the impedance value is assumed nearly equal to the value detainees who are resistive (R). UPS is tested using a lamp and ballast. Power factor is measured from a small current (1.09 A) to the maximum current (2.5 A) increased from 0.86 to 0.93. While the harmonics that appear decreased from 49.5% to 41.45%. From the test impedance values can not be assumed equal to zero.
