Abstract
Breakpoint is a decrease in power level without any increase in value of continuous power level. This breakpoint can not be calculated using the formula and can only be determined by looking at graph distance pathloss function. Where there are two pieces on the graph line, the line pathloss function of the distance and pathloss regression line from the line function of the distance. Breakpoint determined from the last intersection between these lines. Because of the lack of information about the value breakpoint in urban areas in Surabaya, on this final project, carried out the comparison of breakpoint on CDMA and GSM in urban areas in Surabaya. In the field measurements used walfish-Ikegami method of measuring and testing methods, Okumura-Hatta airport, so it can determine the value breakpoint in the region Urban. Purpose from the use of two models was to find who the best results. Is used for this measurement location in the area of SCTV, with the value breakpoint Darmo Permai occurs at a distance of 2.187 km for the CDMA system, while for a GSM system, the value breakpoint occurs at a distance of 1.501 km. The result is a graph of distance function to determine the pathloss breakpoint that can be used by practitioners in the field of telecommunications in order to optimize the power received in urban areas. Keywords: pathloss, Walfish-Ikegami, Okumura-hatta, breakpoint, urban, CDMA, GSM
