    Abstract

The Ease of a telecommunication service is a major consideration for telecommunication users. The user can utilize existing technology to develop various applications in order to facilitate users in fulfilling their needs. One of applications which being developed is the LBS. Location Based Service (LBS) is a form of service that actively react to changes of positions entity so it can detect the location of objects and provide services in accordance with the position of the object. In this final project, created a LBS application that can display maps and can inform the public facilities which wanted by user based on their position in the form of text, also to know where their position now. This application is made by using J2ME programming language to display it in mobile phones, and using map script to display a map. Users input a street name by mobile phone, and then input sent to the server through http protocol. To get the shortest distance from each streets node and the way to access location are analyzed using Dijkstra's algorithm. From the test results showed that the system has worked well, where the average execution time required is 2.1 seconds. Meanwhile, for the test of finding the nearest location, required about 3 seconds of time, but the access only work when using the web access and can not be accessed in real time using the simulator for mobile phones. Key Word --- LBS, J2ME, map script, Dijkstra
